Over the weekend, Sweden and Russia played a pair of friendly matches at Moscow's Krylatskoye Stadium. After getting blown out on Saturday 10-3, Russia stormed back to win Sunday's matchup 9-4 thanks to three goals from Rodina's Sergei Shaburov.
In game 1, Dynamo Moscow's Magnus Muhren scored three goals for Sweden, including two on penalty shots. Magnus Olsson from Edsbyns IF added three goals of his own for the Swedes, including as assist to Muhren.
Trailing 4-1 at the half, Russia was never able to get back into this one, the only bright spot being a hat trick from Dynamo's Yevgeny Ivanushkin.
In game 2, the sides kept it close through the first half. Shaburov set the pace early for Russia, scoring a pair in the first 27 minutes. But the trio of Muhren, Olsson and Per Hellmyrs combined to keep it knotted at 2-2 before Kuzbass' Alexander Sapega put Russia up for good.
Zorky forwards Daniel And Johan Andersson added two more for Sweden in the second half, but goals from Yury Vikulin, Sergei Perminov, a pair from Pavel Ryazantsev and one more each from Shaburov and Sapega locked up the win for the Russians 9-4.
