Bruins Rookie Kessel Out Indefinitely After Cancer-Related Surgery
BOSTON, Massachusetts -- Boston Bruins center Phil Kessel is out indefinitely after having cancer-related surgery, his agent said Tuesday, according the the Associated Press.
The report was confirmed by Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli, who added that further details would be released when the Kessel family was ready to release them.
The 19-year-old rookie had five goals and four assists in 27 games for the Bruins. A standout at the University of Minnesota, Kessel was taken by the Bruins with the fifth overall pick in the 2006 entry draft.
